The Leadership of the Islamic Sufi Commission Australia brings together scholars, professionals, community leaders, and partner institutions united in the mission of preserving and strengthening Tasawwuf. Guided by the Qur’an, the Sunnah, and the values of Ihsan, our leadership includes the Executive Board, an International Advisory Committee, Associate Members, Supporting Members, and International & Local Supporting Institutions. Together, they provide direction, governance, and vision for the Commission.
As an umbrella body, the Commission was founded to unite all traditional Sunni Sufi orders in Australia under one platform while respecting their diversity. Its founder also serves as the official representative of the Tariqah al-Qādiriyyah al-ʿAliyyah in Australia.
The Executive Leadership Team guides the strategic direction and administration of the Commission, comprising trusted individuals appointed for their expertise, piety, and dedication to serving the Muslim community.

Born in Melbourne with Levantine heritage, Shaykh Ramy pursued traditional studies in Yemen and Syria under renowned scholars, receiving multiple ijazahs in Hadith, Fiqh, and the Islamic sciences. With over 15 years of daʿwah experience across Southeast Asia, he co-established a Qur’an school for girls in Indonesia and currently serves as the Australian representative of the Ṭarīqah al-Qādiriyya al-ʿĀliyya (The Qadiri Tariqah). He is also the founder of Zawiyah Seminary — an online platform dedicated to teaching traditional Sunni Islam, and The Islamic Commission of Sufi Orders (Australia).
A lifelong seeker of knowledge, he often says: “Whatever portion of knowledge and understanding I have gained, I remain conscious that I still do not know enough, for knowledge is a vast ocean.” This reflects the Prophetic teaching that “whoever travels a path in search of knowledge, Allah will make easy for him a path to Paradise” (Ṣaḥīḥ Muslim, 2699).

Dr Said Ajlouni is an Associate Professor in the Biosciences section at the Faculty of Veterinary and Agricultural Sciences, The University of Melbourne. He completed his Bachelor’s degree and Diploma at Damascus University before pursuing postgraduate studies in the United States, where he obtained a Master of Science (Research) from the University of Georgia and a PhD from Pennsylvania State University.
His research focuses on food safety, quality, and functionality, with a particular interest in minimally processed foods. His work explores the action of natural antioxidants, fibres, and probiotics, as well as the impact of different processing and preservation methods on the safety, quality, and physio-chemical properties of foods.

This Advisory Committee consists of distinguished Islamic scholars from all corners of the world. They provide religious oversight, scholarly guidance, and ensure the Commission’s adherence to traditional Sunni teachings.

Shaykh Hisham ‘Ubayd Allah al-Qadiri al-Husayni (b. 1957, ‘Amuda, Syria) is the eldest son and successor of the late Shaykh ‘Ubayd Allah al-Qadiri al-Husayni, may Allah sanctify his secret. Raised in the care of his noble father, he embraced the Qadiri path from a young age, learning its litanies, disciplines, and spiritual practices directly under his guidance. In 1968, at the age of twelve, he received formal ijazah and khilafah in the Qadiriyya at the sacred Qadiri shrine in Baghdad, a sign of the special trust his father placed in him.
As the eldest son, Shaykh Hisham accompanied his father on many journeys, assisting him in teaching, dawah, and guiding disciples. Known for his humility, simplicity, and constant dhikr, he has been a source of compassion and joy to those around him. Following the passing of his father in January 2024, he was unanimously pledged bay‘ah by his brothers and family as the head of the Qadiri household and custodian of the zawiya. Today, he continues to preserve the Qadiri tradition with steadfastness and love for Allah.

Shaykh Mukhlif al-‘Ali al-Hudayfi al-Qadiri al-Husseini (b. 1976, Tabqa, Syria) is a distinguished scholar, imam, and spiritual guide of the Qadiriyya ‘Aliyya order. Coming from a noble prophetic lineage through Imam al-Rifa‘i and Sayyid ‘Abd al-Qadir al-Jilani, he devoted his life to Islamic learning and service. After early studies in Qur’an, fiqh, hadith, and Arabic, he pursued religious sciences in al-Hasakah and Aleppo, later teaching subjects such as fara’id, usul al-fiqh, and ‘aqidah.
In 1991, he entered the Qadiriyya path under Shaykh ‘Ubayd Allah al-Qadiri al-Husayni, completing 27 spiritual retreats before receiving ijazah and khilafah in 1995. Since then, he has served as imam, teacher, and preacher in Syria, and later in Egypt where he continues his dawah, writing, and teaching. Shaykh Mukhlif has authored numerous published and unpublished works on fiqh, tasawwuf, and dhikr, and has received ijazat from leading scholars across Syria, Iraq, Egypt, Morocco, and beyond.

Shaykh ‘Abd al-Hadi b. al-Hajj Muhammad b. Salih al-Kharsa al-Dimashqi al-Salihi al-Shadhili al-Hanafi (b. 1959, Damascus) is a distinguished Syrian scholar, jurist, Sufi master, and author. Born into a devout family in al-Fawakher, Damascus, his father was a student of the great Shaykh Muhammad al-Hashimi, and his mother descended from a noble Circassian family. From a young age, Shaykh ‘Abd al-Hadi pursued Islamic studies at Ma‘had al-Fath al-Islami under Shaykh Muhammad Salih al-Farfour and other eminent teachers, later completing his studies at al-Azhar University in Cairo, where he graduated in Shari‘ah and Law in 1980.
He received training in fiqh, hadith, and tasawwuf from over three hundred scholars across Syria and the Muslim world, including Shaykh Sa‘id al-Burhani, Shaykh Abd al-Rahman al-Shaghuri, Shaykh Ahmad al-Shami, Shaykh Ahmad Kaftaru, and Shaykh Nizam al-Qubrusi. A prolific author, his works cover jurisprudence, spirituality, and refutations of extremism. He has taught for decades in Syria and abroad, guiding students in knowledge and spiritual refinement, and remains one of the foremost living representatives of the Shadhili and Qadiri traditions.

Shaykh Awn Mueen al-Qadoumi is a renowned Sunni scholar, preacher, and educator from Jordan. He is the principal of The Ma’arij Institute of Islamic Studies in Amman, an institute dedicated to advancing traditional Islamic scholarship for contemporary times. He studied Shari‘ah at the University of Jordan and continues his higher academic research at the Islamic University of Lebanon.
Shaykh Awn has travelled extensively, delivering lectures and seminars at leading centres of learning such as Al-Azhar University in Egypt and Dar al-Mustafa in Yemen. His clear teaching style and engaging presence have made him a well-known figure across the Muslim world, both in person and through television, radio, and online platforms. He was also one of the founding contributors to LIFE Radio, serving the community through Islamic programming.
He has studied under leading scholars, including the late Mufti of Jordan, Shaykh Nuh al-Qudah, Ustadh Sa‘id Fouda, and Habib Umar bin Hafiz. Today, he continues to teach, guide, and inspire seekers of knowledge worldwide.

Shaykh Dr. Aziz El Kobaiti Idrissi Al-Hassani (El-Mobaiti) is a Moroccan scholar, educator, and Sufi thinker, recognised for his efforts to connect traditional Islamic spirituality with the challenges of the modern world. He is the President of the International Academic Center for Sufi and Aesthetic Studies (IACSAS) in Fez, Morocco, through which he has organised numerous international conferences on Sufism, interfaith dialogue, and the role of aesthetics in Islamic civilisation.
Dr. Aziz holds a PhD in Arabic literature and has served as a professor under the Moroccan Ministry of National Education, teaching Arabic language, literature, and Sufi studies. He has authored and edited several works, including Islamic Sufism in the West, which explores the transmission and adaptation of the Shadhili-Darqawi and Habibiyya traditions in Europe and beyond.
As a respected speaker, he has lectured across Morocco, Europe, and the Middle East, addressing topics of Islamic spirituality, cultural identity, and renewal. Dr. Aziz continues to guide students, researchers, and seekers through his writings, public lectures, and Sufi gatherings, embodying the living tradition of Moroccan Sufism.

Shaykh Dr. Sulaiman al-‘Aidi is a respected Jordanian scholar and academic specialising in Hanafi jurisprudence. He serves as a lecturer at the World Islamic Sciences and Education University (W.I.S.E) in Amman, Jordan, within the College of Hanafi Fiqh, where he trains students in the classical tradition of Islamic law and its contemporary applications.
Dr. al-‘Aidi is recognised for his ability to combine deep textual knowledge with clarity of explanation, making complex jurisprudential discussions accessible to students at various levels. His teaching covers core areas of Hanafi fiqh, usul al-fiqh, and applied legal issues, equipping graduates with both scholarly rigour and practical insight. Beyond classroom instruction, he is actively involved in mentoring, curriculum development, and departmental initiatives that reflect W.I.S.E’s broader mission of integrating traditional scholarship with modern academic standards.
Widely respected among his peers and students, Shaykh Dr. Sulaiman al-‘Aidi embodies the values of precision, humility, and dedication to service. His work continues to contribute to the preservation, transmission, and renewal of the Hanafi tradition in Jordan and beyond.

Shaykh Dr. Muhammad ‘Abd al-Ilah Muhammad Sharif al-Thabit al-Hassani al-Hayali (b. 1971, Mosul, Iraq) is a distinguished scholar, preacher, and spiritual guide. From a young age, he grew up in the company of scholars and entered the Taqiyya al-Faydiyya under the guidance of the gnostic Shaykh Muhammad Amin al-Faydhi (d. may Allah have mercy on him). There he received his early training in Qur’an, dhikr, and Islamic sciences, inheriting both knowledge and spiritual discipline.
He completed his studies at the Islamic High Institute for Imams and Preachers in Baghdad (1994), obtained his Bachelor’s degree from the College of Imams and Preachers (1998), a Master’s with distinction (2002) on al-Alusi’s Tafsir Ruh al-Ma‘ani, and a PhD in Qur’anic Sciences from the College of Imam al-A‘zam. He holds ijazat in Qur’anic recitation, Hadith, Fiqh, and Tasawwuf from eminent scholars including Shaykh Muhammad Amin al-Faydhi, Shaykh Faydhi al-Faydhi, Dr. ‘Abd al-Malik al-Sa‘di, and others.
Currently, Shaykh Dr. al-Hayali serves as preacher, teacher, and khalifah of the Qadiriyya Nuriyya order, known for his humility, sincerity, and dedication to reviving knowledge and guiding the community through wisdom and sound spirituality.

Raised in Jordan, Shaykh Yasin ʿAbd al-Jabbar al-Kurdi studied Shāfiʿī fiqh under Dr Amjad Rashid at the Madārik Institute, alongside his academic studies at the World Islamic Sciences and Education University. He further pursued the Prophetic sciences with Shaykh ʿAwn Maʿīn al-Qudūmī at the Maʿārij Institute. Today, he continues to serve the daʿwah in Somaliland.
